Traction Gap Assessment

Traction Gap Assessment

The Traction Gap Assessment is a structured diagnostic protocol used by Traction Gap Partners to evaluate a company’s current maturity and readiness across the four core pillars of the Traction Gap Framework: Product, Revenue, Team, and Systems. This assessment leverages qualitative and quantitative data collected from company materials, team surveys, executive interviews, and working sessions to uncover strengths, critical gaps, and alignment issues at foundational and go-to-market stages.

Key themes and analysis areas addressed in a Traction Gap Assessment include:

• Market IQ & Customer Discovery: Has the company completed primary research, surveys, and competitive analysis, or is market learning mostly anecdotal?
• GTM & Process Ownership: How distributed is go-to-market and feedback process ownership? Are responsibilities founder-centric, or is there broad team engagement?
• Category & Messaging Consistency: How well are the Market Blueprint and Messaging Matrix embedded? Is there alignment and common understanding of value, positioning, and messaging across company roles?
• Resource Depth & Knowledge Sharing: Does the team structure, hiring plan, and process documentation support scalable execution? Are there knowledge-sharing systems and clear role accountability?
• Score Divergence: Are there misalignments or widely divergent perspectives on feature validation, market engineering, and process knowledge? (Wide score variability signals risk and misalignment.)

Process:

• Assessment: Gather responses through team surveys, review of core artifacts, and document analysis.
• Workshop: Facilitate an interactive TGP working session to surface low or inconsistent scores and clarify diagnostics.
• Action Planning: Develop a prioritized, targeted plan to close critical gaps and strengthen team alignment.
